Alias

We’ve now reached the first two week break in season three of Alias, which gives me a chance to share my thoughts on the past two months worth of episodes…

.These are the most trying times for Sidney Bristow since the murder of her fiance in season one. To wake up disoriented in Hong Kong is one thing, but Sid then gets some absolutely horrifying news:

1.) Two years have passed since she was officially pronounced dead by the CIA.

2.) Her father has been found guilty of consipiracy, and is in solitary confinment.

3.) The love of her life, Agent Vaughn, thinking Sidney dead, left the CIA, met another woman, and is now married.

To top everything off, Sidney has a strange scar on her abdomen for which she cannot account. Once back at the CIA, answers are scarce, and the climate not so friendly…

Arsenal 2 - 1 Tottenscum

“One-nil down, two-one up, doo-dah, doo-dah!” 2 - 1

Arsenal play like crap for 60 minutes, win anway…

Despite looking absolutely awful for the better part of an hour at Highbury this afternoon, Arsenal came storming back thanks to some key subsitutions to beat Tottenham Hotspur (aka Scum) 2-1 in the first North London derby of the season.

Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg scored the goals for the Gunners, who remain undefeated in the league.

I’ll post more about this match a little later on…

Arsenal 1 - 0 Dynamo Kiev

Due to the fact that I’m working nights this week, I was sleeping during this match. With the last two Arsenal results being so favorable, maybe I should stay away until after the match is over from now on! :)

From BBC News:

Cole snatches Arsenal win

Arsenal 1-0 Dynamo Kiev

Ashley Cole kept Arsenal’s Champions League hopes alive with a dramatic late header to sink Dynamo Kiev at Highbury.

England defender Cole scored an unlikely winner 90 seconds from time as Arsenal’s ambitions of progressing to the knockout stage were threatening to be extinguished.

It ended a night of almost total frustration for Arsenal, and gave them their first Champions League win in nine matches.

Now Arsenal go into their final two games with renewed hope of finally making a serious impact in Europe’s premier club competition.

Arsenal were desperate for the victory that would keep them in the Champions League hunt, but Dynamo’s sharp passing kept them on alert in the early exchanges.

Arsene Wenger’s side soon settled into their stride and Dynamo keeper Olexander Shokovskiy had a narrow escape in the 21st minute when Gilberto Silva directed a close range header straight at him.

And he was floundering again 12 minutes later when he missed Robert Pires’ corner and Goran Gavrancic cleared Freddie Ljungberg’s header off the line.

Arsenal counterpart Jens Lehmann was barely troubled apart from a long-range drive from Oleg Husyev which he saved comfortably.

The opening 45 minutes was a tale of frustration for Arsenal, whose struggle to find the target was in sharp contrast to their flowing Premiership form.

And Dennis Bergkamp was guilty of more wasteful finishing two minutes after the break, shooting straight at Shovkovskiy after being sent clear by Thierry Henry’s flick.

Both sides had opportunities to score in a flurry of chances just on the hour.

Pires held his head in anguish when he headed wide of an open goal from Henry’s cross - and Oleg Husev did the same seconds later when he failed to hit the target from eight yards.

Time was running out for Arsenal, and Wenger made a change after 68 minutes, replacing Ljungberg with Sylvain Wiltord.

And Arsenal made another switch seven minutes later in increasing desperation, Kanu coming on for Ray Parlour.

Bergkamp almost made up for his earlier miss with a thunderous 20-yard drive four minutes from time that was turned over by Shovoskiy.

Arsenal’s frustration finally ended when Cole stole in at the far post to meet Henry’s header and beat the gallant Shovkovskiy.

Next up, the scum from White Hart Lane. Arsenal play Spurs at Highbury this Saturday at 10 AM ET. The match is on PPV at selected pubs.

Congratulations Mess!

Mark Messier scored two goals in the Rangers 3-0 win over the Dallas Stars at Madison Square Garden last night, and in so doing, moved past Gordie Howe to second on the all time points list. Messier is now second only to Wayne Gretzky as the NHL’s top points-getter.

RANK PLAYER G A PTS
1 Wayne Gretzky 894 1963 2857

2 Mark Messier 682 1169 1851

3 Gordie Howe 801 1049 1850
