A Record 4 Fightin’ Blue Hens Enter NFL in 2004

Johnson, Hall, Nerys, and Adams..Four players from the University of Delaware’s 2004 NCAA I-AA Football National Championship team have become part of this year’s NFL freshman class. Monster Defensive End Shawn Johnson was the first FBH drafted with the first pick in the sixth round (166) by the Oakland Raiders. He will join 2 other former Blue Hens, Rich Gannon and Keith Burnell, on the Raiders. Quarterback Andy Hall went to the Philadelphia Eagles a couple dozen picks later in the sixth round. OL Jason Nerys and S Mike “Pops” Adams signed free agents contracts shortly after the last pick was announced to the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers respectively.
