Arsenal 0 - 0 Birmingham City

Yawn…

Perhaps it was the fact that Birmingham played eleven men behind the ball, or perhaps it was a Championship hangover, but this morning’s match at Highbury was Boring with a capital B.

Neither team ever really looked like scoring, and neither keeper was put under any sort of pressure.

Jose Antonio Reyes started up front paired with Thierry Henry, and although he showed flashes of his brilliance, it’s obvious that he and Titi need to play together more often in order to develop a fruitful partnership.

Martin Keown came on in the dying moments, which counts as his seventh League appearance this season. The veteran defender will need to play in each of the remaining threee matches in order to earn a Championship medal.

To be able to experiment with the striker pairing is a nice luxury to have, now that the Championship is in the bag. That said, it was obvious that Arsene Wenger is quite interested in the setting the unbeaten record that is now only three games away. Should the Gunners avoid defeat in their matches against Portsmouth, Fulham and Leicester, they will be the first English team since 1889 to go an entire League season unbeaten.

The march towards history continues on Tuesday at 3 PM ET. The match against Portsmouth will be aired live from Fratton Park on FOX Sports World here in the US.
