Giambi holds press conference, says nothing

Jason Giambi held a press conference today to address some of the questions surrounding the illness that has caused him to miss a bulk of the baseball season.

From everything I’ve read, Giambi refused to divulge any further details regarding his condition, other than to say that he had indeed been suffering from a parasite, and that he has fully recovered from that.

In addition, during the course of his treatment for the parasite, he was diagnosed with a benign tumor, which has been since removed.

While I respect Jason’s need for privacy, his not having told us anything that wasn’t already known won’t stop the speculation that these health issues have been brought on by his use of illegal steroids.

My stance is this; whether or not Giambi used steroids, no one deserves to be as ill as he’s been. I’m happy that he’s on the road to recovery, and look forward to the day that Joe Torre once again writes his name on the lineup card. All indications are that it could happen as soon as next month.

This is like when I’m coaching my NCAA Scholorship Badmitton players, and one player tells me they can’t preactice because of a sinus infection. It’s a freakin cold. Get out there.
