Drama yet again in Bronx as Williams homer clinches division

Bernie Williams broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the ninth by hitting a two-run home-run to give the Yankees a 6-4 win and a three game sweep over the visiting Minnesota Twins.

The win clinches the American League Eastern Division for the Yankees, the seventh year in a row the title has gone to the Bronx. It was the Yankees’ 100th win of the season, a mark they have reached for three consecutive years, and a first in club history.

Clinching the division has earned the Yankees home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Game One of the ALDS will take place on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium against either the Minnesota Twins or the Oakland A’s.
