New York Giants 20 - 14 Washington Redskins

20 - 14

Giants beat Redskins, stop losing streak at nine

The Giants did just enough on Sunday afternoon at the Meadowlands to squeak out a 20-14 victory over the Washington Redskins. All of the Giants scoring came in the first half, despite the fact that the Redskins turned the ball over seven times. So, not a convicing performance, but it is nice to be off the shnide.

Arsenal 2 - 2 Bolton

Brilliant displays by Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Freddie Ljungberg were cancelled out by the piss-poor play of Pascal Cygan and Jens Lehmann as Arsenal twice surrendered the lead to drop two points at home to Bolton.

To be fair, Bolton played very positively, unlike PSV Eindhoven during the week, and look very deserving of their third place position in the table.

Pascal Cygan must be relegated to the bench, or better yet, the reserve squad, as quickly as possible! Word is that Sol Campbell will return from injury next week against Manchester City, and quite honestly, the defense needs him.

Phone Repaired

Let’s just say it’s a good thing I bought the Extended Service Plan back when I got my phone last year. On Monday I received a call from Radio Shack indicating that my phone had been repaired, and was ready to be picked up.

I had brought it in for repair because the input for the A/C power adapter/charger, was loose, and the phone therefore was not taking a charge. You would think that before giving back the phone, the good folks at Radio Shack would have charged it. Well, you would think wrong.

Once I was in the car, I plugged the phone into the D/C adapter/charger. That seemed to work, as the charge light lit up, and stayed on for the duration of my trip. The trip was a short one, so I didn’t get a full charge, but in the short time, I ended up with two power bars.

Back at work, I noticed that the power had dropped down to one bar. I figured it was due to the short charging period, and turned the phone off. After work, I plugged the phone back into the car charger for the ride to KA’s and then again for the ride home. All that time in the car, and still no more than two power bars.

At home, I plugged the phone into the A/C charger and let it sit there overnight. In the morning, the green light was on, indicating a full charge. I unplugged it from the charger, and powered it on. Only two power bars. What the hell was going on? I plugged it back into the charger, and waited. Ultimately, the green light came on, but this time, when I tried to turn on the phone, nothing happened.

I brought it back to Radio Shack, where the determination was made that a new battery was needed. Like I said earlier, thankfully I had gotten the ESP, because they ended up replacing my battery with a $70 extended life battery.

Everything seems fine now, and to make a long story short (”Too late!” I can hear you saying) I can now be reached once again on my mobile.

Ahh, the joys of modern life!

All Led Zeppelin, All The Time

This summer, Philadelphia rock station, 93.3 WMMR, conducted a poll of its’ listeners, asking them to rate 1,000 songs in their library. The poll was conducted live on the air, as the station played each song on the list sequentially. Listeners could either print out the list from the station’s website and rate the song as they heard it playing, or the more enlightened ones (IE, myself and Dave to name just two) could complete it in its’ entirety on the site at their own pace. I took the poll one night earlier this summer, and when I did, it seemed to be a bit heavy on the Led Zeppelin. I believe the results seem to bear that out. Coming to a television near you: Star Wars: The Series?

Check out this interesting tidbit that was featured on the web on Tuesday:

AP: After “Episode III,” will you ever revisit “Star Wars”?

Lucas: Ultimately, I’m going to probably move it into television and let other people take it. I’m sort of preserving the feature film part for what has happened and never go there again, but I can go off into various offshoots and things. You know, I’ve got offshoot novels, I’ve got offshoot comics. So it’s very easy to say, “Well, OK, that’s that genre, and I’ll find a really talented person to take it and create it.” Just like the comic books and the novels are somebody else’s way of doing it. I don’t mind that. Some of it might turn out to be pretty good. If I get the right people involved, it could be interesting.
