Sin City

(out of five)

I saw this back on April 3, and just never got around to posting a review. Since it’s been a while, I don’t know that I’ll be able to comment on specifics. Let’s just put it this way; Scott came with me to the movie, and while we were waiting for the show to start, he expressed his trepidations. He had read the graphic novel several years ago, and was worried that no filmmaker was up to the task of translating one of his favorites to the screen. Two plus hours later, Scott left the theater a happy man.

He had many reasons, because with “Sin City,” Robert Rodriguez, along with author Frank Miller, and some help from Quentin Tarantino, have achieved a cinematic triumph. While the subject matter was considerably disturbing and ugly, the black and white photography was actually quite beautiful.

The entire cast was excellent, but Bruce Willis, Jamie King and especially Mickey Rourke as Marv were outstanding.

“Sin City” is a great “flick,” and one that’ll definitely be added to the AOM library.
