Arsenal sign Poom on loan

The transfer window closed today and Arsenal made a few moves, none of them all that exciting. Goal keeper Mart Poom was signed on loan from Sunderland. The loan deal lasts until January 1. Moving in the opposite direction from Highbury up to Sunderland is defender Justin Hoyte. Hoyte, still young at 20, will get first team exposure with a Premiership side during a season-long loan. Also moving today was striker David Bentley. The 21 year old will spend a season-long long with Blackburn Rovers. In keeping with FA Premier League rules, Poom will not be eligible to play against Sunderland, nor will Hoyte or Bently be eligible to play against the Gunners.

So, that’s it as far as transfers until January. The only signing made since last January was Alexander Hleb. I know Arsene was frustrated with being unable to sign Julio Baptista, but it begs the question ; wasn’t there a plan B?
