Theo Walcott joins the Gunners

It’s official. Arsenal have confirmed the signing of 16 year old wunderkind Theo Walcott from Southampton.

According to Arsenal.com, the initial fee paid by Arsenal was GBP 5 million, with another potential GBP7 million sent later based on appearances.

Despite talk to the contrary, Walcott will not be sent back on loan to Southampton. He is expected to join his new teammates immediately, and has been issued the number 32 shirt.

The Times of London have a great article about Walcott, which includes a brief history of his football career up to this point. Check it out here

I think it’s safe to say that Arsene is finished his shopping for now. While I’m a bit disappointed that he didn’t bring anyone in who could be conisdered an immediate impact, the buzz surrounding the three additions, especially Walcott, is quite exciting. I can’t wait to see it translate onto the pitch.

Fantastic. I don’t know if you guys over in America know much about it, but here in England there is a massive interest in what is being touted as the new Henry.

Nothing on US-based news, but everything I’ve read about this kid has me very excited.

The Russian Mobsters Plaything offered 15 mil straight cash for him and boasted that they would beat any offer any club made for him, Man Ure tried to bid but came in too late, and Sp*rs and Liverpool he rejected.
Nice to see a player put football above money.
