London Part One

Spent Easter Sunday driving and walking all around London with Rick and his girlfriend Moyra. This is just the tip of the iceberg, and I can’t believe I’m here!

Arsenal 3 - 1 West Brom

On Dennis Bergkamp day at Highbury, it was the Dutch master who powered the Gunners to all three points, serving as provider for one goal, and scoring a blinder of a second. All right in front of me!

Yes, I was at Highbury yesterday, and thanks to my friend Rick, sat in the second row of the Clock End, which is where Arsenal attacked during the second half.

Radiohead to play Tower Theater?

There are several strong internet rumors surrounding potential Radiohead tour dates and venues. One of particular interest involves Philly:

June 1 & 2, Tower Theater

The Tower is a great place to see a show, but it’s a bit small for a band as popular as Radiohead. I imagine we’ll hear more very soon. Stay tuned.

Pompey 1 - 1 Arsenal

Blown chances tell the tale of yet another point dropping performance by the Gunners. This time the donkey was Adebayor, missing not one, but two sitters.

Arsenal started well, and Henry opened the scoring in the 36th minute. However, Pompey were very much up for it, and their persistance paid off with a 66th minute Lua Lua equalizer.

The other talking point is of course Sol Campbell’s return to the starting 11. Sol had a relatively good game, but came out worse for wear. He ended up needing stitches over his right eye, and it sounded like his nose may have been broken. Can you say karma?

The 4th spot is now out of our hands. We must hope for slip up by the Scum.

Next up is WBA at home on “Dennis Bergkamp Day”. Here’s hoping the Dutch master can inspire the Gunners to three desperately needed points.

US 1 - 1 Jamaica

An underwhelming performance by a team made up of MLSers sees the US have to come from behind to draw with Jamaica 1-1 in a pre-World Cup warm up match in Cary, NC last night.

Ben Olsen scored the only goal for the US last night, and by all accounts, was pretty much the best player on the pitch for the Americans.

As far as I can tell, Bruce Arena still has a lot of work to do before the World Cup, as this team is far from ready. Granted, there will be a handful of players coming back from Europe in about a month, but the core of this team are the MLS players, and they just didn’t get the job done last night.

Chicago Day Three

Despite the result, those who gathered for the inaugural Arsenal America gathering had a great time at the Globe Pub in Chicago this morning. Check out the pictures from this morning by clicking above.

After the game, Dan took Bready and I over to Clark St. Hotdogs for some real Chicago hot dogs. I got one with “everything” which includes mustard, onions, relish, pickles, tomato, and sweet peppers. Really damn good.

From Clark St, we walked up to 1060 W Addison, aka, Wrigley Field. To check out pics from the Friendly Cofines, click on the image above.
