April 9th, 2006 — Arsenal FC

Arsene Wenger gambled, starting Henry and Ljungberg on the bench, as the Gunners played well, but still lost 2-0 to Manchester United this morning.
After a goalless first half during which Arsenal looked the most likely to open the scoring, it was Shrek who scored the first goal for Man United. After that, it was a different match, because with the Gunners chasing the game, they were left exposed at the back. This opened things up for ManUre, and they took advantage of it, JS Park scoring his first Premiership goal to wrap up the points for the Red Devils.
The loss is bad news for Arsenal’s chase for the final Champions League spot, because it came on the heels of a Sp*rs victory over Man Citeh yesterday.
Arsenal cannot afford to drop any more points, and their first opportunity to get things back on track is this Wednesday at Pompey. Kickoff is at 3PM ET, but due to the FA Cup replay between ‘Boro and Charlton, won’t be shown until 11 PM ET on Fox Soccer Channel.

In a match not without controversy, the Big Soccer ManU supporters defeated Arsenal America 8-3 in a hard fought contest in Chicago this afternoon.
On a terribly brisk and blustery day, it was the unexpected players that made the difference for the Red Devils. Originally, only 8 players showed up for the ManU side, but two neutrals and a Paul Scholes look-a-like showed up at the last moment, making the game a full 11 v 11.
Pretendascholes scored 6 of ManUre’s goals, with the others coming from a penalty kick, and an own goal.
I played 20 minutes of this match, and apart from my pride, came out unhurt. Check out the pictures above, as well as the videos below for more.

A historic night in Turin, as Arsenal outclass Juventus, and advance to their first even European Champions League Semi-Final.
The defense was solid, with everyone chipping in, but special mention must be made of the performances of Kolo Toure and Jens Lehmann. Toure was a rock in the center of defense, and has really evolved into the defacto leader of the defense as a whole.
What can one say about Jens’ performance other than, “Nobody f***s with the Jens.”
So, this sets up an amazing European night at Highbury on the 19th. One at which I’ll be in attendance!!!!!! My head’s about to explode at the thought!
Villareal advanced past Inter Milan, so they alone now stand between the Gunners and a date in May’s final in Paris.
April 5th, 2006 — New York Rangers

With their shootout win over the Flyers last night, the Rangers clinched a playoff berth for the first time since 1997. It’s been a long nine years, but playoff hockey is back at the Garden! There are still seven games to play, so it’s yet to be decided who the Blueshirts will face in the first round, but if things stay as they are today, it would be bitter rivals, the NJ Devils.
