Brian McBride shrugs off a near concussion to head the US to their second win on the trot. McBride’s 47th minute header was the only scoring of the game, and the Americans ended their pre-World Cup tuneups with a 1-0 win over Latvia.
The team made a few changes, including starting DeMarcus Beasley on the right. Everyone looked much better, and Eddie Johnson looked very dangerous, coming close to scoring several times.
The players now have three days off before heading to Hamburg. The US’ first World Cup match takes place on June 12th against 2nd-ranked Czech Republic. Kickoff is 11:55 AM ET, and the match will be shown live on ESPN2.
