It’s Ophishal: Phish in “second-hiatus”

From phish.net:

In an interview on an Atlanta radio station today (April 27) , Trey (likely in Atlanta for studio work with a producer he’s teamed up with before) confirmed rumos that he, Mike, and the Benevento/Russo duo will tour together this summer. Though tickets and billing will likely portray some hierarchy among the bill’s acts, rumors (based on previous things Mike and Trey have said) describe the tour as some sort of interactive meld, with each of the 3 doing their own stuff, as well as some interaction among them.
Trey also mentioned that he “hopes to get Phish back together in a few years”, dispelling rumors of an October 2006 reunion but confirming common suspicions that this “breakup” is really a second hiatus.

Arsenal 4 - 2 Wigan

A Thierry Henry hattrick seals the deal as the Gunners say goodbye to Highbury with style.

Terry Gilliam to direct 6th Potter?

The great Harry Potter fansite, The Leaky Cauldron, reported the following bit of news, which I found quite interesting:

IMDB has updated their site to list Terry Gilliam as the director for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Readers will remember that in the past Mr. Gilliam has expressed interest in directing a Harry Potter film. While this editor would be thrilled if this were indeed the case, please remember everyone, this is still very early in the going, and this should very much remain in the rumor category for now. We are trying to find out more about this, and will update with more when we can. Thanks dangee!

While this is obviously just a rumor at this point, I think Gilliam would be an inspired choice, and I hope this turns out to be true.

Man Citeh 1 - 3 Arsenal

You know it’s summer when Jose Antonio Reyes starts scoring goals again. The Spainard scored twice in the final twelve minutes to give Arsenal all three points at the City of Manchester Stadium this afternoon.

The Gunners took the lead at the half hour mark, Freddie Ljungberg scoring his first league goal of the season. The lead was short lived, as Citeh drew level nine minutes later.

It stayed that way until Reyes’ heroics late on provided Arsenal a very valuable extra two points. It keeps the pressure on the Scum. Should they drop points at West Ham on Sunday, while Arsenal do the business against Wigan, the Gunners will secure fourth.

It’s hard to imagine the Gunners wouldn’t be up for Sunday’s game regardless, considering it’s the last ever at the cathedral of football known as Highbury.

The grand old stadium has served the club well for 93 years, but, in order to compete in today’s footballing economy, a bigger stadium is needed. Ashburton Grove will be the Gunners’ new home, just a 1/4 mile up the road.

There are several surprises in store on Sunday, including a rumored performance by the Who (Roger Daltry’s a season ticket holder). The match will be broadcast on tape delay at 4PM ET on Fox Soccer Channel. Here’s hoping the post match festivities will be part of the Arsenal TV broadcast on GolTV next week,

Original Star Wars Films to be released on DVD

Zogworld’s Dave alerted me to this very cool bit of news:

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) — The original theatrical versions of the first three “Star Wars” films are finally coming to DVD on September 12, two years after diehard fans blasted George Lucas for releasing only the digitally modified 2004 versions of the celebrated trilogy in a boxed collection.

This time, “Star Wars,” “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” will be available individually and appear on DVD exactly as they did in their respective theatrical runs in 1977, 1980 and 1983.

Each release, distributed by 20th Century Fox, will be a two-disc set that also includes the digitally tweaked 2004 edition.

The DVDs will be available only through December 31.

No real surprises there. Latest news is that Albright is replacing the injured Frankie Hejduk. A lot of people are upset that Taylor Twellman and Craig Berhalter weren’t selected, but just as many people feel that neither have been playing well enough lately to deserve a spot.

Just over a month to go until the insanity ensues!
