I’ve got a bike,
You can ride it if you like
It’s got a basket, a bell that rings
And things to make it look good
I’d give it to you if I could, but I borrowed itYou’re the kind of girl that fits in with my world
I’ll give you anything, everything if you want thingsI’ve got a cloak it’s a bit of a joke
There’s a tear up the front it’s red and black
I’ve had it for months
If you think it could look good then I guess it shouldYou’re the kind of girl that fits in with my world
I’ll give you anything, everything if you want thingsI know a mouse and he hasn’t got a house
I don’t know why I call him Gerald
He’s getting rather old but he’s a good mouseYou’re the kind of girl that fits in with my world
I’ll give you anything, everything if you want thingsI’ve got a clan of gingerbread men
Here a man, there a man, lots of gingerbread men
Take a couple if you wish, they’re on the dishYou’re the kind of girl that fits in with my world
I’ll give you anything, everything if you want thingsI know a room of musical tunes
Some rhyme, some ching, most of them are clockworkLet’s go into the other room and make them work

In a match that will be remembered more for one moment of madness rather than the performances by the teams involved, Italy prevailed, beating France 5-3 on penalties. [More later...]

World Cup Day Twenty Four

Bastian Schweinsteiger does the hosts proud as Germany claims third place by beating Portugal 3-1 earlier today.
Arsenal’s own Mad Jens Lehmann made a very classy move, sitting this match out to let “Mary Shelly’s Oliver Kahn” play his first match of the tournament.
Tomorrow is the big day, with France & Italy facing off for the world title. Kickoff is at 2PM ET, on ABC.
World Cup Day Twenty Three

Kickoff is 2PM ET on ABC.
World Cup Day Twenty Two
July 4th, 2006 — Soccer

In a stunning finish, Italy scored twice in the dying moments of extra time to beat Germany 2-0 in today’s first World Cup Semi-Final.
Neither team really looked like scoring, and it seemed that a penalty shootout was inevitable. Then, in the 119th minute, Italy won a free kick, the German defense had a momentary lapse of concentration, and just like that it was 1-0 Italy.
Germany then went into an all-out attack mode looking for the equaliser, which left them open to the counter. Veteran Alessandro Del Piero took advantage of the situation, and German keeper Jens Lehmann was left helpless by his defense as the ball curled around him into the net to make it 2-0 and seal the hosts’ fate.
Italy now moves on to the final, where they’ll face the winner of tomorrow’s France v Portugal game.
Allez les bleus!
