ALDS Game One

The Captain goes 5 for 5, including a home run to pace the Yanks to a 8-4 win over the Detroit Tigers in tonight’s American League Division Series game one.

Jason Giambi’s two run homer in the third capped off a five run inning, Bobby Abreu drove in four RBI and Chien-Ming Wang’s pitching was excellent through 6 & 2/3 innings.

The middle relief is still severly lacking, which was magnified during a stretch in the 7th and 8th innings when the Tigers went 3-4 with a walk after only five at bats.

Game Two is tomorrow night @ 8 on ESPN. Mike Mussina starts for the Yanks, his 21st career post season start. You have to figure that the Moose doesn’t have too many Octobers left in him, so let’s hope he rises to the occassion.
