Fire this man ASAP.
December 23rd, 2006 — Arsenal FC

After a nervous start which saw us go down early at home yet again, Gooners around the world were no doubt bracing themselves for another 1-1 draw. No one could have predicted at that point that when all was said and done, Arsenal would put six past Friedel, from five different players.
Gilberto opened the scoring for the Gunners - a header from a corner. (I know, I didn’t believe it at first either!)
Hleb scored Arsenal’s second, while Adebayor converted a penalty to make it 3-1 at the half.
The first 25 minutes of the second half were a footballing clinic put on by Arsenal, but with no goals. Suddenly, Blackburn scored against the run of play, and it was back to a one goal game.
However, Robin van Persie took over, scoring an absolutely exquisite goal to restore the two goal advantage, before he added another. Mathieu Flamini rounded out the scoring, as a nice +4 goal differential went along with a well earned three points.

“Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way.”
“What happened to the doll?”
“It was destroyed. But out of that a new holiday was born… A Festivus for the rest of us!”

The album came out about a month ago, and I have to say that it absolutely blew me away. Apple Corps/Capitol have just released the above video, which is also quite cool.
If you’re looking for a last minute gift for the Beatles fan in your life, put “Love” at the top of the list.
December 21st, 2006 — New York Yankees

After a three-year stint in Houston, Andy Pettitte is back with the Yankees, signing a one-year deal, with a player option for an additional season in 2008.
I was disappointed back in 2003 when the Yanks allowed Pettitte to leave via free-agency, but when Andy went on the DL early in the ‘04 season, it seemed as if it was a smart move.
Three years on, and I have to admit to being a bit skeptical about this. Andy’s not the pitcher he was when he left the Bronx, and it’ll be interesting to watch what happens come April.
