Freddie Ljungberg makes a triumphant return to the first team, as his goal two minutes into the second half of extra time took the wind out of Bolton’s sails following their 92nd minute equalizer. In all seriousness, Arsenal could have won this game by 4 or 5 goals. Emmanuel Adebayor converted his first chance after 13 minutes to give the Gunners an early lead.
This was a determined Arsenal side. Man of the match honors could go to any number of players - Hleb and Denilson both come to mind. However, two players who will probably want to forget this one are Gilberto and Baptista. Both Brazilians missed spot kicks, and badly. On top of that, Baptista missed at least three or four clear cut chances. He wasn’t the only one. Adebayor also missed at least one clear sitter before finally putting away the third Arsenal goal of the night, punching the Gunners’ ticket to the fifth round.
Speaking of the fifth round, it’s this weekend, so there’s no rest for weary. Arsenal face Blackburn at the Grove on Saturday morning. Kickoff is 7:30 AM ET, and the match will be broadcast live here in the US on Fox Soccer Channel.
She closed the show with UK #1, “Smile”. Her encore included a cover of The Specials “Blank Expression”, and new single, “Alfie”. Check out the video for “Alfie” below:
All in all, a great, if somewhat short show. With her catchy melodies and somewhat subversive lyrics, along with her cheek, Lily’s poised to be a big, big star.
