After months of speculation, Sean Connery announced yesterday that he would not be returning for next year’s Indiana Jones 4:
“I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement. I thought long and hard about it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun. I, do however, have one bit of advice for Junior: Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator! This is a remarkable cast, and I can only say, ‘Break a leg, everyone.’ I’ll see you on May 22, 2008, at the theater!”
While it’s disappointing that Connery won’t be making an appearance in the fourth film, there is good news to report. Cate Blanchett has been confirmed as a co-star in the upcoming adventure. No word on whether she’ll be the love interest or not, but there are strong internet rumors indicating that she’ll actually be playing a villain.
Shooting has already started, and there’s going to be an extensive shoot in New Haven, CT later this month. In fact, there are open casting calls for extras at the Omni Hotel in New Haven next Monday & Tuesday. That’d be pretty cool to be in an Indy movie…

They must be looking for white-trash extras if their doing a casting call in New Haven. In the famous words of Mr. Kenobi, “You’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy…”
i just typed “their” instead of “they’re.” that’s one of my biggest pet peeves and i’ve just been found guilty of it. sonsabitches bumpasses.
