(Setlist pending)

Got turned on to these guys just a few months ago by my cousin Jeff. While the albums are good, they’re nothing compared to seeing the band live. I had a great time, and will definitely be checking them out again.

Arsenal 3 - 0 Seville

Well, he did it again. The scoring machine that is Cesc Fabregas scored yet another screamer. Seemingly imbued with a new sense of, “Oh what the hell, why don’t I shoot and see what happens.”, Cesc’s blast from 30-yards out deflected nicely into the Seville net just short of the half-hour mark to put the Gunners on the front foot.

In all honesty, it didn’t seem to be that difficult a match for Arsenal, and about a half an hour later, Robin van Persie doubled the lead, and pretty much put the result beyond doubt.

Lassana Diarra came on late to make his Arsenal debut, but it was the other late substitution, Dudu, who really drove the nail in the coffin by scoring a simple tap in in the 93rd minute.

The only negative tonight was the injury to Tomas Rosicky, who came off just four minutes after the restart due to what initial reports are indicating was a pulled hamstring.

A successful opening night in Europe, and now it’s Derby in the league at The Grove on Saturday. Kickoff’s at 10 AM ET, and the match will be broadcast live here in the US on Fox Soccer Channel.

As Sam Cooke, The Grateful Dead, James Brown and The Cars all used to sing “Let The Good Times Roll”!

Packers 35 - 13 Giants

Week two proved to be another big week for the defense as the Giants gave up over 30 points for the second week in a row. This time they dropped the home opener to a Green Bay team that hasn’t lost for nine games going back to last season.

Eli Manning did play, and he actually looked pretty good, but it doesn’t matter much if this defense continues to play as badly as they have these first two weeks.

Scum 1 - 3 Arsenal

What a great derby day!!! After an early bump in the form of a Gareth Bale free-kick goal, Arsenal scored three times in the second half (Adebayor w/two, one either side of Cesc’s winner) to come from behind and earn a massive away win against the most hated Totts. Just take a look at this third goal for the Gunners. Prepare to lose your breath:

“Ad-e-bay-or, Ad-e-bay-or!”

So, top of the table and now the attention turns to Europe with the visit of Sevilla on Wednesday. Kickoff’s at 2:45 PM ET and the match will be shown live here in the States on Setanta USA.

Running late for work on a Friday…

Blocked by county workers fixing a busted water main one block from my house.

Following mid-90s model Honda as it catches on fire.

Stuck at cross walk while school crossing guard halts traffic to assist two crack addicts across the intersection.

Any one of the above could help explain why I was late for work this morning. When all of them happen during the course of one commute, it’s a wonder I got to the office before 9AM!

Hey, at least it’s derby day tomorrow…

Led Zeppelin is back

It was the worst kept secret in rock these past few weeks, but the word is now official. Led Zeppelin will be re-uniting. For one show.

According to the BBC, the show will take place at London’s O2 Arena (formerly the Millennium Dome) on November 26th. The show is actually a benefit concert in memory of Ahmet Ertegun, one of the two co-founders of Atlantic Records, who passed away last year.

The lineup will include of course Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, and will feature John Bonham’s son Jason on drums.

While nothing’s been said today, there are strong indications that based on the response to the performance in November, a full blown tour could take place in 2008.
