New Indy IV images released

Three production stills made their way around the internet last night, and I have to say, despite his age, Indy still looks pretty bad ass.

Seville 3 - 1 Arsenal

Well, we knew it was coming sooner or later. Arsenal suffered their first loss of the season yesterday in a 3-1 stuffing by a rampant Seville. Having already clinched qualification for the next round, Arsene Wenger fielded a weakened side - only three starters took to the pitch - and the match proved a good testing ground for some of the second tier players.

Nick Bendtner and Dudu look the real deal. The two combined on Arsenal’s only goal of the game, an excellent poacher’s goal by Dudu which opened the scoring eleven minutes in.

However, Gilberto, Justin Hoyte and Philip Senderos looked out of their element. By halftime, it was 2-1 Seville. Gilberto improved his play in the second half, but I’d be very surprised to see Senderos on the squad list after January.

So, a “meaningless” game that gets some playing time in for the second-choice players against a very good team, it also served as that “first loss of the season”.   Better to lose in the Champions League after having secured qualification than to drop points in the league, or get knocked out of a cup.   The players can put that worry behind them as they turn their attention back to the Premiership. It’s a trip to England’s second-city, Birmingham, to take on Aston Villa. Kickoff is 12:15 PM ET here in the US, and the match will be shown live on Fox Soccer Channel.

Vikings 41 - 17 Giants

Yeah, I know this is a few days late, but I’ve spent the time looking for an audio file of that sound they used to play on the “Howard Stern Show” back in the 90s for when someone got kicked in the crotch.

If there was any question that Eli is not cut out to be a starting quarterback in this league, I think it was answered on Sunday. The guy threw four touchdown passes - but three were for the other team!

Eli - get your head out of your ass and figure out what you want to do with your life, because everything you’ve shown up to this point indicates that football isn’t it.

Paris je t’aime

I’ve never been to Paris, but have always had it on my list of places to visit. The history, the art, the culture are all well documented. That’s why it’s the most visited city in the world. More tourists flock to Paris each year than to any other location on the planet. I hope to count myself among those numbers some time soon, and the urge for going was increased a thousand-fold by the film I watched last night:

“Paris je t’aime”

The tagline for the film is “Stories of love. From the city of love.”, but it’s so much more than that. Featuring eighteen short films by twenty different directors, the five minute segments are each devoted to a different neighborhood in Paris, and each have their distinctive stamp. All of them are moving in their own way, some for good, some not, but that’s really up to the individual. Standouts include the contributions by Joel & Ethan Coen, Olivier Assayas, Isabel Coxiet, and Alexander Payne. That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy the others, (I did apart from a segment on mimes and another on hairdressers) it’s just that those were particularly good, especially Payne’s American woman alone in Paris.

I’ve not been so moved by a film in years, and I can’t stress enough how good it is.

A +

Arsenal 2 - 0 Wigan

They left it VERY late, but Arsenal continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Wigan at the Emirates yesterday.

Several players were missing from the side due to injuries, or in the case of Cesc Fabregas, suspension. Until the 84th minute, it seemed that missing those players was going to cost the Gunners a victory. However, William Gallas’s ghosting run into the box met Bacary Sagna’s perfect cross, and the captain headed the ball past Michael Pollit to earn the victory. Having forced Wigan to respond, the game opened up for the Gunners, and a few moments later, Tomas Rosicky smashed in a second to seal the points.

Coupled with Man United’s loss to Bolton, Arsenal now sit clear at the top of the table on 33 points after 13 games played. They’ll look to keep it going next Saturday away to Villa, but before that, a trip to Seville is in order as the Gunners will attempt to lock up top seed in Group H of the Champions League. That match will be shown live here in the US on Setanta USA at 2:45 PM ET on Tuesday.

Happy Thanksgiving!
