Island hopping near Bali

A few years ago a few of my friends went travelling around the world and all of them had one favourite place – a tiny island called Gilli Trawangan, a tiny little island just off the coast of Bali and forming part of the Lombok islands. The way my friends talked about this place made it sound like a heaven on earth. They paid no more than two pounds a night top live in a little wooden shack supported by poles on the edge of the beach. Every day they did nothing more than snorkel by day and relax in the pub by night but they could barely bear to drag themselves away from the place when their trip came to an end.

Having heard so much about the place I was determined to go there myself. It was only because I was a year younger than them and I was still doing my degree that I hadn’t been able to go they first time, so I owed it to myself to see the place at long last. I started to have a look around on the internet to see if I could find any affordable flights to Bali and I managed to track some down that were quite manageable. My girlfriend and I headed out there and after one flight and several small boat rides we finally reached Gilli. It was everything I had ever hoped it would be and more.
