New 007 Trailer released

The first trailer for the latest James Bond adventure, “Quantum of Solace”, has been released on the internet today. It apparently will be featured in front of prints of this weekend’s Will Smith drunken superhero movie, “Hancock.” No need to wait though, check out these HD versions here:

Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull

It’s no secret that my favorite fictional character of all time is one Professor Henry Jones Jr. Ever since I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark when I was 7 years old, Indiana Jones ranked up there with Star Wars, G.I. Joe and baseball as my favorite things throughout my childhood. To this day, Raiders ranks as my favorite film of all time, and with all of that history, all of that emotion, I sat down with my family to watch the midnight showing of the latest adventure, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

By now, everyone knows that the story picks up nineteen years after the last film, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, which was set in 1938. That puts us at 1957, right at the height of the Cold War, McCarthyism, and Elvis. The movie even looks like it was made during the 50s at some points, much like the first three looked like they were made in the 30s.

Since there are so many who’ve not yet seen it, I won’t say any more than to give it 4 stars out of 5. It gets two stars automatically because it’s an Indy movie, and another two for the amazing adventure/action sequences.

However, minus 1/2 star for one particularly cheesy scene, and minus another 1/2 star for some weird editing during the ending.

I will say this - I had a HUGE smile on my face throughout the entire movie, and I’m definitely going to see it at least 2 more times before it’s out of the theaters. :)

Getting closer

Lucasfilm released the final poster for Indiana Jones 4. Looks like classic Indy if you ask me. In other Indy 4 news, Entertainment Weekly feature Indy on the cover of their latest issue, and include an article about four of the bigger talking points going into the May 22nd release. New Indy IV images released

Three production stills made their way around the internet last night, and I have to say, despite his age, Indy still looks pretty bad ass.

Paris je t’aime

I’ve never been to Paris, but have always had it on my list of places to visit. The history, the art, the culture are all well documented. That’s why it’s the most visited city in the world. More tourists flock to Paris each year than to any other location on the planet. I hope to count myself among those numbers some time soon, and the urge for going was increased a thousand-fold by the film I watched last night:

“Paris je t’aime”

The tagline for the film is “Stories of love. From the city of love.”, but it’s so much more than that. Featuring eighteen short films by twenty different directors, the five minute segments are each devoted to a different neighborhood in Paris, and each have their distinctive stamp. All of them are moving in their own way, some for good, some not, but that’s really up to the individual. Standouts include the contributions by Joel & Ethan Coen, Olivier Assayas, Isabel Coxiet, and Alexander Payne. That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy the others, (I did apart from a segment on mimes and another on hairdressers) it’s just that those were particularly good, especially Payne’s American woman alone in Paris.

I’ve not been so moved by a film in years, and I can’t stress enough how good it is.
